No. It estimates how much material you'll need, not which chemistry or brand is right for your roof's membrane (EPDM rubber, TPO, or fiberglass) — that depends on what's already on your roof and is confirmed during a technician inspection.

What counts as a "penetration"?

Anything that passes through the roof membrane and needs sealant around it — roof vents, AC units, skylights, antennas, and similar fixtures.

Why is there a waste allowance?

Real-world application — cutting tube tips, uneven surfaces, and touch-ups — almost always uses a bit more material than the bare theoretical linear feet.

How this is calculated

Linear feet: your roof's perimeter (2 × (length + width)) + any extra seam feet you enter + an allowance for sealant around each penetration (vents, AC units, skylights).

Waste allowance: a 10% buffer is added on top of the raw linear feet, since real-world application rarely uses material with zero waste.

Tubes needed: total linear feet with waste, divided by how far one tube of your selected size covers, rounded up to a whole tube.
