Why RV Tire & Brake Inspection is Different
RV tires are not the same as car tires — and they can't be treated as such. Travel trailers, fifth wheels, and motorhomes operate at higher loads, often sit stationary for long periods (which causes flat spotting and sidewall dry rot), and typically use tires rated for their weight class in ways that most drivers don't fully understand. A tire that looks fine on the outside can be structurally compromised after several years in the Texas sun, even with minimal mileage.
RV brakes on tow-behind trailers are electric drum brakes — completely different from the hydraulic disc brakes on your tow vehicle, and requiring different expertise and equipment to properly service and adjust.
